Grab some ‘me’ time at this lovely country house spa hotel
Bailiffscourt is a thirty nine bedroom luxury spa hotel just a short walk from the Sussex coast. It is strikingly decorated, a country house hotel with a historic and grand feel to it. It’s set in a fabulous tranquil setting and it’s just a short stroll down a private path to get to Climping beach on the Sussex coast.
The decadent bedrooms and suites, the beautiful restaurant, and the fabulous spa all make it an ideal choice for a couple’s special getaway or honeymoon, or a trip with friends to unwind and be pampered.
We found that it’s impossible not to feel rather special at Bailiffscourt, as the attentive staff make you feel instantly relaxed and looked after. Nothing is too much bother, and they want to make your stay as pleasant and memorable as possible.
Accommodation
We were lucky enough to stay in Baylies, the signature suite at Bailiffscourt, a well-appointed and attractive medieval style room. We had a very comfortable stay there. Baylies consists of a large bedroom with a grand four-poster bed, two televisions, cosy sofas and armchairs, and a bathroom with two side-by-side baths (brilliant for chatting and sipping champagne!) and a shower. The furniture is beautiful; the room felt rather excitingly decadent and we relaxed instantly on arrival. We spent plenty of time enjoying the facilities in the room, at one point eating in our little dining area, and other times relaxing on the sofas playing one of the board games provided and watching television. The huge four poster bed offered a brilliant night’s sleep.
Food
The Tapestry Restaurant on the ground floor of Bailiffscourt offers fine dining and a menu of modern English cuisine in an atmospheric, romantic, candlelit setting. It provided us with one of the best meals we have ever eaten– we were truly impressed with the quality and variety of the menu options and the beautiful and delicious food. Head Chef Russell Williams has created something special.
We went back to our room in order to make the most of relaxing in the lounge area, and watching a film. But indeed you can retire to one of the comfortable lounge areas after for a nightcap or dessert, and continue making the most of the evening, whether you’re with a partner, friends or on your own it’s just lovely being in such a grand yet cosy setting.
Afternoon tea and lunches are served in the lounge areas, and outside in the fabulous courtyard on clement days. The options vary in size and price, meaning you could order a light bite or have something more substantial.
Breakfast was lovely in the beautiful restaurant. We really enjoyed our cooked choices (many of the products used are local), and the buffet has a very decent selection meaning we ate far, far too much delicious food!
Spa
The spa is set in a beautiful enormous building, a brief wander across the lovely grounds from the main building. It is modern and airy, and makes you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in. The spa offers numerous treatments you can choose to book…opt for a facial to give your skin some pampering, or a massage to let the stresses of daily life just melt away. Afterwards go for a dip in the indoor Jacuzzi or outdoor hottub. Or a swim in the indoor pool or outdoor infinity pool. Take a book to read and relax poolside or nip upstairs in the spa to grab a bite to eat. There’s also a relation lounge where you can enjoy complimentary Nespressos..fabulous! The spa is such a perfect way to while away an afternoon with your partner, friends or on your own for some much needed ‘me time’.
Bailiffscourt is a great location to wind down and treat yourself in, and we definitely hope to be back.
