Hotel 53 York is ideal for a "City Break With a Difference"!
This independently owned, boutique inspired hotel is located within the historical city walls - only a short walk from most of the city's superb cultural attractions and just a few minutes walk from Parliament St.
On arrival, the hotel's welcoming open plan reception and bar/lounge area is bright and spacious - perfect for relaxing whilst planning your day or evening ahead. There is also free Wi-Fi internet access throughout the hotel and guests have free use of two laptops in the bar/lounge area.
All 100 ensuite bedrooms have been simply furnished in a stylish modern design, with large glass walled power showers and Sky Sports TV. Some top floor rooms have a great view over the city.
There are 5 accessible bedrooms for guests with disabilities and interconnecting rooms for those on a city break with friends or family. The management operates a policy to restrict same-sex groups - which helps to ensure a peaceful stay for your special city break. I do need to add here though, that there are plenty of local bars, clubs and restaurants for those wishing to make the most of the vibrant local night life!
Adjoining the lounge area is the contemporary dining room which offers an imaginative Mediterranean inspired menu, with all desserts made to order on site - unlike many other hotel restaurants. Guests are invited to dine here with the "Exclusive Dinner Offers" - such as a two course meal plus half bottle of wine for £22.00.
There is also a private function room, separate from the restaurant, available for a special occasion.
Rates are good value for this high standard of accommodation and for those wishing to get a weekend break before the kids' summer holidays, there is presently a June promotion offer for a 4 nights' break including breakfast for £329. There will also be offers available for summer and autumn breaks along with Christmas shopping offers, these are all found on the hotel's website www.hotel53.com . York Racecourse is one of the best in the country with the highlight being the Ebor meeting in August.
York is steeped in history and renowned for being one of the UK's most romantic cities. There are delightful narrow winding streets and romantic river trips. Take a look at the "Heart of Yorkshire" shaped window in the Minster, where folklore tells us that a kiss here means you will remain together forever! The romantic poet WH Auden was born here and Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights was penned not too far away.
