Located in the heart of the West End, The Langham, London opened as Europe's first 'Grand Hotel' in 1865. The Langham's luxurious and exquisitely appointed 380 guest rooms evoke a warm residential feel. I always, always flop on the beds backwards to check the mattress - perhaps I'm goign to have an accident one day - BUT this mattress for wahtever reason is THE most comfortable mattress I have EVER flopped on - after a heavy day shopping (yes well Regent Street is round the corner!) I did not want to move.  Not even to soak in the gorgeously decadent bath with my gorgeously decadent toiletries!  

You will find everything subtle and feel competely indulged, this place is used to welcoming guests with a gentle grandeur and it does so bearing the hallmarks of its rich heritage - a line used is that service is "always anticipating and never overbearing" - it really is!

Whilst there you might visit Europe's first Chuan Spa, designed to captivate the senses and provide a serene haven to re-balance and revitalize. It look heavenly.  I didn't have space this visit for that much time out - next time it's a given. You may enjoy use of the 16 meter swimming pool, state-of-the-art gymnasium, salt sauna and steam rooms.  

I ate dinner alone in the Palm Court as it was quite late to opt for the more formal and definite treat of a meal at Roux at the Landau. Dinner mercifully was a very low key affair comprising great comfort, a relaxed atmosphere and very delicious food.  Breakfast next day was bustling and cheerful but so smooth - no harried, hassled people - excellent coffee, excellent pastries - perfect.  

The Langham is elegant in it's truest sense - it's understated - it's confident in it's ability to impress, indulge and deliver - a stay here is a real treat!
