The George and Dragon is an 18th century coaching inn which serves great local seasonal produce from the owner's family estate. The menu changes monthly and the daily specials keep things interesting. The George and Dragon won the Taste of Cumbria Award (run by Cumbria Tourism) for 2011.

Slate floors, stone fireplaces, rough wooden tables, rich-coloured rugs and a cosy bar make it a relaxing and welcoming place to stay and while away the hours.  The fact that there's a gorgeous comfy bed awaiting you kind of makes the whole thing more appealing.  Each bedroom is individually designed with archive prints, paintings and furniture chosen from the family collection.  Cosy towels and good quality linen are a given.
