A truly luxurious and friendly country house hotel!

Gilpin Lodge is a small family-owned luxury hotel set in idyllic countryside just a mile or two up the road from Windermere. Its extensive grounds and well- tended gardens are full of colourful flowers and fountains. A member of the Relaix and Chateaux hotel group, Gilpin Lodge is a haven of serious luxury combined with a friendly and relaxing ambience. Not only does it provide a child-free environment but also large, noisy functions are discouraged here, resulting in a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere.

If you're looking for a romantic break in the UK, perhaps to celebrate a special anniversary or a birthday, this luxury hotel won't disappoint! Indeed, if you're hoping to spend some romantic quality time with your other half, we suggest that you leave your children with the grandparents and book yourselves into one of the hotel's superb garden suites.  These immaculate chalet-style suites are ideal for a special hideaway, stylishly furnished with huge beds, crisp linen, a private terrace and a gorgeous outside hot tub all to yourselves. Evening meals are served in a choice of four dining rooms and the high quality of the food on offer reflects the three AA rosettes which it has been awarded. The restaurant's five course set menus include such culinary delights as locally sourced lamb and organic salmon. There's a very fine selection of wines as well.   

We really enjoyed relaxing in the spacious bar with its richly warm décor, grand piano and French windows stretching out to an inviting patio dotted with tables and parasols. Everything here is stylish, comfortable and beautifully presented. The hotel is run by the wonderfully friendly Cunliffe family who will make your stay here most enjoyable.  

The Lake House comprises six dwellings ideal for couples, it is situated just down the road from the hotel and there's a small lake in the grounds. A chauffeur service will be on hand to ferry you to the main hotel for your evening meals, or you might prefer your meals to be brought down to the Lake House. Stay here for a truly fabulous getaway, hidden away from the outside world. 

You'll be spoilt for choice when planning days out from here. The holiday resorts of Windermere and Ambleside are just a stone's throw away and there are many beautiful walking areas nearby. All in all, we'd strongly recommend this country house hotel as a superb place to take a luxurious romantic break.
