Romantic, luxurious bliss! We will remember our special time here and the friendly staff for a long time to come. Just wish we were back there now!
From the minute we were driven through the guarded entrance this place looked really impressive and we knew that we were in for a real treat. Up a very steep and windy road we went, the grounds really were something else as we were surrounded by nothing but tranquil rainforest. ‘Wow' was our first impression and we hadn't yet seen what was to come!
We pulled up outside our amazing villa and were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. An ice cold flannel and refreshing fruit drinks were kindly given along with a tour around the villa. After being made to feel more than welcome we were then left to our own devices and couldn't wait to indulge in the fabulous luxury awaiting us.
The villas themselves are low-rise southern Thai style buildings and are pleasant to look at complimenting rather than competing with the surroundings. They are very well spaced away from one another so you get total privacy, which is great, we felt like we were the only ones there.
On the inside, the villas are spacious with a light and airy feel and are very well designed, split into two separate buildings - one of which had the kitchen and lounging area with TV, DVD player and sound system (wifi is available throughout the resort). The other building had a very generous sized bedroom with huge four poster bed, off this led the bathroom which was equally as well sized with his and her sinks.
Dividing the two buildings much to our surprise was our very own infinity edge pool, outdoor lounge bed, sun terrace and eating area. As you can imagine being so high up we had a view to die for, there was jungle whichever way you looked and the beautiful bay below was just waiting for us. As lunch arrived we took full advantage as we kicked back and relaxed with a spot of private dining service, which I may add was delicious and shortly followed by a phoned call checking we were satisfied and required anything else. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate us, they really couldn't have been more helpful.
Later that evening when we finally dragged ourselves away from our villa we decided to go for a wonder and see what else the resort had to offer. The road on the island splits the resort, one side being the villas up in the hills and the other being the resort that leads down onto the beach, all 900 metres of golden sand. Here you can mingle late in the evening on the shoreline to further rediscover Thailand beaches and the atmosphere of 25 years back. There is just enough night life around, just what you need before retiring back to your luxury bed.
After our walk on the almost deserted beach we dined at the Thai n Spice Restaurant, one of four in the resort. This was Thai food at its best and all cooked fresh in front of us. We sat outside on the terrace that was romantically lit with candles and fairy lights, creating a very special ambience and a perfect setting to end our evening.
We headed back to our villa with a little help from the resort golf buggy service. The driver informed us of the cheeky monkeys that live there which have a liking for the complimentary cookies and advised us to keep our doors locked, this made us laugh as it reminded us of where we actually were, the Jungle!
When we arrived back at the villa we noticed the bed had been dressed with orchids and petals, a very nice touch. They had also arranged the blinds and mood lighting throughout, there really wasn't anything for us to do ourselves.
The Primalai Resort really is something else, staying here made our holiday even more special and we didn't want to leave.
