Torovaig House Hotel is a wonderful award winning luxury boutique hotel on Skye, off the northwest coast of Scotland. Owned and managed by Anne Gracie and Ken Gunn, this is a small intimate and opulent boutique hotel, set on the hillside right on the edge of the Sound of Sleat in the south of Skye. It is easily accessible over the (toll free) Skye bridge and is around 2 hours drive west from Inverness airport.
The hotel is set with a backdrop of stunning scenery, looking out to the sea or the ruins of Knock Castle c.1345. The tranquility and surrounding natural beauty make this an ideal for a truly romantic getaway break. Here the hosts and their friendly team will look after you throughout your stay and help make this a home from home, but without the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Anne and Ken have gone to great measures to ensure your well deserved break is a most enjoyable one, they understand that your special time away is precious so everything from the rooms to the food and service is primed to exceed your expectations.
There are nine individually designed ensuite rooms with sea views and all lavishly furnished to the highest standard , with contemporary features in keeping with the traditional architecture of the building. The lounge is perfect to chill out with a book, or a glass of wine before dinner, or a malt whisky night cap by the cosy log fire. Here there is also a piano grande for those of you who are musically gifted. Dinner is served in the restaurant overlooking the gardens and serves fine contemporary cuisine, using local ingredients from Skye and other regions of Scotland. Freshly caught lobster and languistines are the favourites, accompanied with some fine wine or Champagne to help celebrate your special romantic break. You are also very welcome to dine at the sister Boutique Hotel Duisdale House , just up the road.
There is plenty to do around Torovaig as Skye has so many natural wonders to explore, as well as local hillside and coastal walks, fishing, visits to distilleries, castles and local villages captured from times gone by. Here you can enjoy a light champagne lunch whilst exploring the local islands and Hebrides coast line. The Island of Skye is one of the most dramatically scenic landscapes in the UK, there are soft white sandy beaches, inlets, bays, mountains and islands dotted with tiny villages steeped in history and traditional Gaelic culture.
